HE CAME,HE PLAYED,HE CONQUERED

CRICKET -a game which can be understood from the tears of every “Indian Cricket fan” after winning the 2011 world cup final!!!!!!!!!!!

On 9th March,2012 a Cricketer announced his retirement and the cricket world miss a legend who showed a spectacular way of playing cricket”

He is only 1.8m height but named as THE GREAT WALL. ………

He was criticized as the defensive batsman but scored 50(54s & 3*6s) in 22 balls(Strike Rate-227.27)…

He was stamped as the test cricketer but is the only batsman to have been involved in two ODI partnerships exceeding 300 runs……………..

He is not a natural athelete but has taken the most number of catches (210) in test cricket………..

The longest Test innings(270runs,12Hrs) by an any Indian batsman…………

The second fastest half century by an any Indian batsman 50(21)

The more patience , the more concentration, Highly professional, adroit and Passionate cricketer …………….

Yes, it is none other than RAHUL SHARAD DRAVID, a prolific batsman, comfortable fielder and trusted wicket keeper who has rewritten the Indian test cricket history, has announced his retirement from his 16years of glorious fight in the “GREEN FORESTS(GROUNDS)”.

Rahul Dravid

It is not that he has played 16years of international cricket and he is great. Throughout his golden 16years of career there is not even single innings that he had played for his self records. On the day of his retirement he himself told that “ it was about giving everything to the team, it was about playing with dignity, and it was about upholding the spirit of the game”. In every stylish short he plays, in every breath taking catch he takes and every match saving innings he executes you can feel ,what he said.

If any one asks us to ride a bullock cart with out bullocks then some of us may take the responsibility and rode the cart of our own. Can any body come forward to rode the bullock cart without wheels. Absolutely NO. But several times Rahul Dravid became a wheel and rode our Indian team to the destination. When India is struggling with the optimum team selection to the 2003 Worldcup, he took the role as batsman as well as wicket keeper. In 2003 WC he led our nation to the finals by scoring highest number of runs in the tournament. He is the only Indian in the cricket who scored two back to back centuries in the WC. He never showed reluctance in taking the responsibilities as the Wicket keeper and Batsman.

He can play with any player, under any captain, against any team and in any ground. His ultimate goal is to put his team in victory. When India was playing a follow-on against Australia in Edengardens with a despair on the match he made 180runs with forming a historical partnership of 376runs with VVS and led the country to victory. He involved in 80 ODI century partnerships with 18 partners & in 72 century partnerships in Test cricket – the most in history. He is such a distinguished and diverse batsman, who had a flexibility to play with any of the player in top11.The greatness in Dravid is, he can play his innings well and make the others feel pleasure in his partnership. He made the top 2 partnerships in the history of ODI cricket i.e;331 runs and 318 runs with sachin and saurav respectively. In the 21 Test matches India won under Sourav Ganguly’s leadership, Dravid played his part in every single one of those wins, scoring at a record average of 102.84 and piling up an astonishing 2571 runs, with nine hundreds – three of them double-centuries – and ten fifties in 32 innings. Except Zimbabwe all his double centuries are against destructive pace attacks. Rahul Dravid is the first batsmen who has registered a score of century in all test playing nations. .

He is such an obedient and self controlled player that he never involved in any “ words of war” with any player in the field. He once made it very clear before the media that his role is to play Good cricket and he will not react to any player comments on the field. When Akthar commented that he is not a match finisher, he didn’t reacted to that and this incident showed the Mr professional in Rahul Dravid.

He is such a dependable batsman that he holds a record for not being dismissed on a duck for 120 innings in  consecutive one-day matches. He is also the first player to score 10000-run at No.3 position

In matches that India has won, Dravid averages 66.34 in Tests and 50.69 in ODIs. This itself describe how much did he contributed to the Indian cricket team victories rather than his self records. He showed the other part of the Rahul Dravid when he scored 75*Runs(36 balls) against ROYAL CHALLENGERS in IPL . In the last ODI against England, he hit  69RUNS with 3consecutive sixes in a over and set his adieu like a tiger of Cricket. “INDIAN WALL STANDS TALL”

Finally ,it is undoubted to say that Padmasri.Rahul Dravid is very fortunate to the Indian Cricket and is a golden page in the history of WORLD CRICKET.

ALL THE BEST DRAVID…….WE MISS YOU A LOT……..WISHING YOU TO HAVE A GREAT LIFE AHEAD
